REASON & RYHME

Publication Design

Reason and Rhyme brought together ten leading contemporary artists from Australia and New Zealand, as part of The Independence Project series for Gertrude Contemporary. The exhibition explores the urge to impose doctrine, systems and imposed structures on the creative process and how this simultaneously provides context and a structure to rail against. Mindful of the curatorial theme, we crafted the exhibition catalogue to challenge the traditional structure of a book. Running in two opposite directions, the publication physically represents the idea of a delay system or echo, split into two, from Australia to New Zealand and back, playing with repetitious similarity alongside the rebellion and discord inherent in these ideas.
